Seifallah Abid obtained a PhD Degree in 2018 from INSA Rennes (France) and University of Carthage (Tunisia) under the supervision of Dr Christine Paul-Roth and Professor Bassem Jamoussi working on the synthesis and optical studies of organic and organometallic phthalocyanine dendrimers. In September 2018, he joined the GNS Group at CEMES Toulouse to work with Dr Claire Kammerer and Professor Gwénaël Rapenne as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focused on the design and synthesis of porphyrinic molecular cogwheels, with the aim of assembling them into trains of gears on surfaces and ultimately achieving controlled intermolecular gearing motions. In March 2021, he joined Prof. Fraser Stoddart at Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) to explore further the fascinating world of molecular machines. In May 2022, he started a new journey at ICBMS Lyon to work with Dr Anis Tlili as a postdoctoral fellow on the dual-catalyzed synthesis of carbamates.
- Synthesis of porphyrins and phthalocyanines
- Synthesis, characterization and photophysical studies of linear and dendritic assemblies
- Elaboration of mechanically interlocked molecules and cyclophanes
- Valorization of carbon dioxide by dual catalysis in new chemical reactions
