David Gueyrard was born in Bobigny (France) in 1974. He received his Ph.D. degree (2000) from the University of Orléans under the supervision of Prof. P. Rollin on the synthesis of natural and synthetic glucosinolates. After his Ph.D., he was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. C. M. Marson at University College London working on the stereoselective synthesis of organofluorine compounds, before returning to the University of Orléans to join the group led by Prof O. R. Martin and Dr. P. Compain to work on the synthesis of iminosugars. A year later, he moved to the University of Rennes 1 to work on the preparation of synthetic models of cytochrome C oxidase in the group of Dr. B. Boitrel. In September 2003, he was appointed as a Lecturer at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and became Reader in 2008. His research interests consist of the development of new synthetic methodologies to prepare carbohydrate mimics, the extension of the modified Julia olefination on carboxylic acid derivatives and its application in total synthesis.
