About Luc

I have a scientific background as an organic chemist specializing in medicinal chemistry. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Montpellier (1997), I supported a PhD in Marseille on HIV protease inhibitors in the team of the discoverer of this virus. I was the recipient of a two-year Marie-Curie scholarship in Siena and a Cancer Research Foundation (ARC) scholarship in Montpellier. During these 4 years of Post-doc, I worked in oncology on total synthesis and on cell vectorization. I then held two positions at a part-time fellow in teaching and research (ATER) in Marseille before being recruited, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lyon in 2007, as assistant Professor.

Research interests

My research has focused on infectiology and bacteriology in recent years. I try to understand the interactions between bacteria and to combat the phenomena of multiple drug resistance (MDR). In the study of interactions between Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) and Staphylococcus aureus (Sa), we developed new Pa inhibitors of the 4-hydroxyquinoline family. The study of ATP Binding Cassette, involved in fluoroquinolone resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae (Sp), is one of my new challenges.
